Well Abandonment Project (2010)
Bluestream Diving B.V. have been awarded a contract by Hallin Marine to undertake air diving work within the Irish sea from a DSV DP II (Northern Canyon).
Air diving work associated with the abandonment of the Centrica owned Observation Well, 110/2a-7 situated in the far North of the South Morecambe gas field.
The sub-sea well was drilled to prove North/South field separation, and was completed in 1983 for the sole purpose of gathering field pressure and temperature data.
The wellhead is encapsulated in a spherical chamber which has since been flooded.
In general, the scope of work includes the removal of a subsea wellhead within the Irish Sea on a working depth of approximately 30 msw.
Bluestream Diving B.V. supplied a complete air diving spread and all personnel for this job which was completed end January 2010.
