K1A Conductor Clamp Installation (2011)

Bluestream Offshore B.V. has been awarded the 2011 IRM Campaign of Total Exploration and Production B.V. Part of the scope was the installation of a conductor guide clamp on the K1A platform. This scope had to be undertaken using both rope access and diving techniques. All work was conducted from the DSV VOS Shelter which was chartered by Total. The VOS Shelter is a 4-point mooring vessel with a 35mT Crane & 176m2 working deck.

Prior to mobilising, the 2 conductor guide clamp sections were delivered to the Bluestream yard where a dry assembly run was successfully undertaken to familiarize all parties with the clamp assembly.

Upon arrival on location divers secured the conductor subsea and rope access installed the transfer rigging on the platforms spider and maintenance deck. The 2 clamp sections were transferred from the vessel to the transfer rigging 1 by 1. When the 2 clamp sections were in position on the conductor they were bolted together by Rope Access Technicians and lowered to the -16m subsea installation area on the conductor guide frame.

Under diver instruction the clamp was positioned in its final position on the conductor guide frame. Divers closed the bracing clamp sections and bolted them together. Upon completion of the clamp installation CP measurements were taken to confirm the functioning of the clamp anodes.
