UT-sensor repair and maintenance (2008)

AJS is an Unincorporated Joint Venture (JV) organization, set up by AMEC Oil and Gas, Jacobs Engineering Netherlands B.V. and Stork Industry Services Netherlands B.V. to deliver the ONEgas Integrated Services Contract (ISC).

The large NAM F3-FB-1 oil and gas production platform consists of a concrete GBS on which three concrete legs are placed, which serve as a bearing structure for the topsides. Outside these legs run a number of risers, which are held in place by clamps.

For years the attachment bolts were checked using ultrasonic measurement instruments. Because the instruments had to be removed and were located in difficult-to-get-to places, Bluestream Rope Access was called in.

Using the rope access technique, Bluestream Rope Access was able to remove the measurement instruments quickly and safely. At the same time the riser fastenings were visually and ultrasonically inspected. The opportunity was taken to carry out a retro-wrap installation on the neighboring oil loading terminal, F3-OLT. By combining all this work, AJS made considerable savings in the costs of mobilizing/demobilizing personnel and equipment.
