Repair & Replacement of Helideck Netting Support Frames (2010/2011)

As an outcome of the previous helideck netting close visual inspection carried out by Bluestream offshore in 2009, Total E&P Nederland  awarded Bluestream Rope Access B.V. with the following work scope: “repair and replacement of all helideck netting, netting support frames and frame support brackets of the L7-Q platform.

This work scope had to be carried out during normal helicopter operations, which means that the rope access team had to clear the helideck within a time window of 20 minutes.In order to clear all lifting equipment in this small time window, 2 cranes were custom build for this job (workshop Bluestream).

By using rope access techniques it was possible to clean corrosion, replace brackets, replace bolts, replace netting frame sections and do MPI weld inspections wile working over the site of the helicopter deck and partly above the water.
