Greater Gabbard Anode Ring Installation Project (2011)
Bluestream ROV B.V. has safely completed an installation with the Saab Seaeye Cougar XT for Seaway Heavy Lifting Engineering in the Greater Gabbard Windfarm. Seaway Heavy Lifting Engineering has been awarded a project for Fluor, to install a meteo mast to monitor the environmental conditions at this specific location . For this project the brand new Oleg Strashnov was used.
After the pile was placed, by the Oleg Strashnov, an anode ring had to be placed to protect the pile against corrosion. The Oleg Strashnov lifted the ring over the pile and lowered the ring into the installation slots, approximately 6 meters below sea level. The Cougar XT monitored the anode ring coming down the pile. Bluestream provided instructions to the crew onboard of the Oleg Strashnov to maneuver the ring into the slots. To make sure that the ring was in place the Cougar XT performed a short inspection. After the inspection the 13 millimeter thick steel cables with which the ring was hoisted in place had to be removed. Therefore the Cougar XT was equipped with a Webtool low pressure anvil cutter. Within several minutes the cables where successfully cut and undone from the anode ring.
Later on the anode ring was secured by divers. The Oleg Strashnov completed the project by installing the meteo station.
